Open Access Statement
Commitment to Open Access
Heighpubs Otolaryngology and Rhinology (HOR) is an open access journal. This means that all articles published are freely accessible to readers worldwide immediately upon publication. There are no subscription fees, paywalls, or access barriers. We believe knowledge should be a global public good, available to all without restriction.
Licensing
All articles in HOR are published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits anyone to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of our articles, and to use them for any lawful purpose, provided proper attribution is given to the original authors and source.
Why Open Access?
- Equity: Removes barriers to access for readers in low- and middle-income countries.
- Visibility: Increases readership, downloads, and citations.
- Compliance: Meets funder mandates such as Plan S, NIH Public Access Policy, and Horizon Europe requirements.
- Impact: Ensures that research influences clinical practice, policy, and innovation globally.
Author Rights
Authors retain copyright of their work and grant HOR a non-exclusive right to publish. Authors are free to:
- Deposit articles in institutional or subject repositories (green OA).
- Share preprints and accepted manuscripts publicly.
- Reuse their own content for teaching, conferences, or derivative works.
Reader Rights
Readers may access, reuse, and redistribute content without restriction. This encourages knowledge dissemination and scholarly collaboration.
Example in Practice: A surgeon in Kenya can freely access the latest techniques in endoscopic sinus surgery published in HOR without subscription barriers, enabling direct application to patient care.
